I finally stopped using my chainsaw chain wrong after a 70 year old logger yelled at me
So I was out at a job site near Bend, Oregon last month and this old timer walks up while I'm cutting a big pine. He just stops me and says 'your chain's on backwards, kid.' I've been using chainsaws for like 5 years and never knew you could even put one on backwards. Turns out I was running it backwards the whole time, cutting was way harder than it needed to be. Has anyone else had a pro point out something obvious you were messing up for years?

So like did you ever watch any videos online that showed it backwards or just never thought to check?

Oh man, that's hilarious and I feel your pain! I did the exact same thing with my miter saw at home - had the blade on backwards for like a year before a buddy at work spotted it and couldn't stop laughing at me. It's amazing how long you can go thinking you're doing it right when it's just making everything harder.

Feels like half the stuff we do wrong is just because we assume we've got it figured out and never second guess it. Makes you wonder how many other little things we're all messing up without even knowing.
