Finally caught a fake quote in a local news story using the original speech recording
Used to just skim the article and take the quotes at face value. Last week a city council piece in my town of 12k people attributed a line to the mayor that sounded off, so I pulled the 40 minute meeting audio from the city site and sure enough, it was the reporter's paraphrase dressed up as a direct quote. Got the station to correct it. Anyone else do source audio checks before sharing these?
