Hot take: I hit 40 deep fakes identified and it changed how I watch news

I started counting the fakes I found online after joining this group. Last night I hit exactly 40 videos I've spotted on my own. Most were on Twitter and YouTube, things like politicians saying stuff that never happened. The big one was a clip of a weather anchor that had weird eye blinks and a lip sync delay of about half a second. Anybody else keep a running tally of fakes you've caught?

Oh the weather anchor thing is exactly what got me counting too. I found a clip from a local news station where the anchor's earrings kept glitching in and out between frames. It was like half a second of weird static around her ears every time she moved her head. After that I started paying way closer attention to background details like text on screens or reflections in glasses. Those little environmental tells are harder to fake than the main person's face.

You ever notice how reflections in glasses are the quickest giveaway, @fiona_kim97? I watched a video where a guy's glasses showed a window that didn't match the studio at all, just a messy blur of colors. That kind of environmental mismatch is harder to smooth out than a face because it's a whole scene they'd have to rebuild.
