Just found out a huge number of deepfakes are flagged by audio, not video
I was reading a report from a university lab in Boston, and it said over 60% of the fakes they catch have weird audio glitches like breaths not matching mouth movements. I always focused on the eyes and skin, but now I'm listening for weird pauses. What's the most obvious audio tell you've heard in a fake?

Honestly... I'm not sure how big of a problem this is for the average person. Most deepfakes I've seen are still pretty bad and easy to spot without listening for breaths. It feels like the tech is always one step ahead anyway, so these audio checks might be outdated already. I just don't get that worked up about it.

Right? I saw one the other day that was so bad it was almost funny.

That "one step ahead" feeling is exactly why I worry. The good ones are already here, and most people won't spot them.

Totally get what @violag80 means, but the good ones are already scary good (and not just the bad, funny ones).
