My uncle, a retired video editor, told me to always check the earlobes for unnatural blurring, and it saved me from sharing a fake political clip last month.

He said it over coffee in Chicago, and sure enough, when I paused that video of the senator, the blur around her left ear was a dead giveaway, so what's the one tip you've gotten that actually works?

My grandpa was a printer for forty years. He told me to always check the whites of people's eyes in photos, says the color and texture are almost impossible to fake right. I've caught so many bad family photo edits that way, it's crazy. That old school knowledge really sticks with you.

Honestly I feel like AI is getting too good for that trick to work much longer. Tbh I've seen some deepfakes lately where even the eyes look totally real.

Actually, @amy_martin's grandpa had a point about the eyes being a hard tell.

Grandpa's trick works because printers knew how ink sits on paper. AI doesn't have that physical texture to copy yet. The real world still has details screens can't show.
