Paid $12 for a shady deep fake detection app and it just flagged every video as fake.
Total waste of money because the app just used a generic blur detection that caught nothing real, has anyone found a cheap tool that actually works for spotting AI faces?

Blur detection is basically useless for modern deepfakes. The good AI faces don't have that soft blurry look anymore.

Yeah the good ones are basically flawless now. But you can still catch them if you look at the lighting on the eyes or how the hair sits against the background. Those little mismatches are usually a dead giveaway.

Yeah the eye thing is smart but honestly I've been looking at the background more than anything lately. Have you noticed how AI still struggles with reflections in glasses or windows behind the person? That's been my go-to trick for a while now. The big tell for me though is something nobody talks about which is how AI faces handle asymmetry. Real people have slightly uneven eyes or a crooked smile but AI always seems to generate faces that are too perfectly balanced. It gives me this weird uncanny feeling before I can even pin down why. You nailed it earlier @theas28 about the hair and background mismatch by the way that's another solid check to add to the list.
