Shoutout to the guy who pointed out the weird ear flicker in that political ad
I was watching a local election ad on YouTube last night and something felt off about the candidate's face. I was stuck between thinking it was just bad lighting or a real deepfake. I decided to download the clip and run it through Deepware Scanner, and sure enough, the tool flagged inconsistent ear lobe movement. That tiny flicker was the giveaway. Has anyone else caught a fake by looking at ears instead of the eyes?

Yeah that "inconsistent ear lobe movement" thing jessem59 mentioned is everywhere once you start looking. I see it in those weird skincare ads on instagram where the person's face is totally smooth but their ears look like plastic. Or in those corporate apology videos, the CEO's mouth says sorry but his ears don't move with his jaw. It's like the uncanny valley's secret back door.

That "inconsistent ear lobe movement" thing is a known trick... I read an article where experts said ears are way harder to fake convincingly than eyes or mouths. It's a good place to look if you're suspicious.

Remember trying to spot a fake video last year and getting nowhere until I focused on the ears like @jessem59 said. The person's smile looked real, but their earlobe just stayed totally still the whole time, like a statue. When they turned their head, the skin around the ear didn't fold or move naturally at all. It was the one weird, stiff thing that gave it away after everything else seemed perfect.
