That one bad week of AI lip sync videos messed me up

Last Tuesday I saw three separate deep fakes of politicians giving interviews. The mouth movements were off by half a second. Then Wednesday a fake of a celebrity chef doing an ad popped up. The lighting on their face didn't match the background. By Friday I was double checking everything with a audio sync tool. Has anyone else had a stretch where you spotted fakes nonstop for days?

The worst part is now I don't even trust my own eyes anymore, not just the tech.

Oh great, some of us are just now getting our "trust nothing online" training wheels. I had a similar week back when those deep fakes of actors started showing up. Spent the whole weekend watching old movies and pausing to check if the shadows on their faces matched the sun position in the scene. Made my husband crazy when I kept asking if that politician's mouth looked right during the evening news. Now I just assume everything is fake until proven otherwise, saves a lot of mental gymnastics.

Honestly, the scariest part nobody talks about is how this messes with your own memories. Like, I've started questioning if things I remember vividly even happened or if my brain just fabricated them from watching too much stuff.
