Bought a $200 digital art course that was basically just YouTube clips

I saw an ad for this 'pro secrets' digital painting course last month and dropped $200 on it. The instructor had a cool portfolio, so I figured it was legit. Turns out the whole thing was just re-edited versions of their free YouTube videos with a couple of extra brush files. The 'exclusive' content was maybe 20 minutes long total. I feel like an idiot for not checking reviews first. Has anyone else gotten burned by a paid tutorial that was just repackaged free stuff?

Watched my buddy pay for a "premium" coding tutorial that promised project files. The whole download was just links to the guy's public GitHub repos, which we could have found with a two minute search. He even left the "star this repo" prompts in the text files. My friend was too mad to even ask for a refund, just swore off paid tutorials for good.

That's such a scummy move.

Totally agree with @torres.blair about the map to their own front yard. That is just a straight up scam. People selling that junk ruin it for the few folks making actual good, paid guides. Your buddy should 100% try for a refund, that's false advertising. Swearing off all paid stuff is fair, but man, it sucks the bad actors make it harder to find the real help.

That "premium" tutorial sounds like someone selling you a map to their own front yard. The star this repo note left in the files is the real chef's kiss of laziness. Your friend basically paid a convenience fee for a Google search he could have done himself.
