A hefty clinic fee in Mexico flipped my script on travel coverage

Ryanair wanted 180 quid just to check a bag last time I flew. So your buddy's story doesn't even surprise me, that's the real problem. They'll charge you more for a sweater in a lost suitcase than the ticket from London to Barcelona. The whole system is built to catch you out.
