inMy view on shutter spring lubrication did a 180 this week
Honestly my car's engine light came on six months ago and I just kept driving. Tbh by the time I took it in, what was a sensor fix turned into a whole thing with the catalytic converter. Ngl the bill still hurts.

inUnpopular opinion: Fancy tools can't replace a good old wiring check
So true, and it goes beyond just electrical stuff. A lot of intermittent engine troubles can be a simple dirty sensor or a clogged fuel filter that gets swapped out for no reason. Sometimes the best tool is just taking the time to look for the obvious stuff first.

inI finally dug into the story behind our creek's old stone bridge
Every rundown building has a backstory. The shut down movie theater downtown had a projector rigged for gambling in the balcony. Old schoolhouse desks have carvings from kids who later died in wars. These places are time capsules. Digging deeper shows how power and money shaped the town. Leaves you questioning official records.

inPSA: My new habit of sketching finds on-site just solved a puzzle
Totally get what @janag89 is saying about photos making us lazy. My own sketches look like a confused bird made them (seriously, it's bad), but forcing my hand to draw the curve of a rim makes me actually think about how thick the clay is and how it was held. Now I find myself hefting rocks before I even take a picture, just feeling their weight and balance.
