Choosing between a quiet mountain town and a busy beach city for a 3-month stay
I had to pick a spot for my next long stay and it came down to two choices: a quiet place in the mountains of Guatemala or a busy city in Mexico right on the coast. The mountain town was cheap, like $400 a month for a room, and super peaceful. But the beach city had way better internet and more people to meet. I went with the beach spot because my work needs a strong connection for video calls. It was the right call for getting stuff done, but man, I miss the quiet mornings and the cool air. The noise here is non-stop and my rent is double. Has anyone else had to choose between peace and good internet? How did you make it work?

Feel that... my last spot had dial-up in paradise.

Ever feel like you're picking between a good life and a working one? I swear, the universe makes sure the perfect quiet spot has internet powered by a hamster wheel... My last place had views to die for and download speeds to actually die from. You just learn to love offline hobbies, I guess.

Oh man, @carr.abby, that's the real trade-off. I once tried to work from a cabin and spent more time chasing signal than relaxing. It really does force you into a different pace.
