Check out the new online system yet? I tried it last month and it was still pretty slow... took over a week for approval. Is it actually faster than dealing with the border chaos now?

It's a good point from @green.noah about the current mess. Something I haven't seen mentioned is how this might be a deliberate push to get people using the new online visa extension system instead. The long lines could be a way to push folks toward the digital option, which the government might prefer for tracking. That would explain why the in-person process has become such a hassle lately. It creates an incentive to avoid the border altogether if you can.

A buddy of mine went last week and said the line was a solid four hours just to get stamped out. He saw a guy ahead of him get turned away for a wrinkled form, like @green.noah said, it's a real mess. They ran out of the queue number tickets before lunch. My friend ended up paying a "fixer" in the parking lot just to get the right paperwork sorted.
