That fancy coworking membership I bought for 6 months was a total waste

I signed up for a premium coworking spot in Chiang Mai last year, thinking it would boost my productivity. Paid $300 upfront for a 6 month plan, but I only went about 8 times total. Most days I ended up working from cafes or my Airbnb because the place was too noisy and crowded. Has anyone else bought a long term membership and regretted it?

Bought a 6 month pass to this "creative hub" in Bali and went maybe 5 times. The wifi was trash and the AC sounded like a dying cat. I felt so dumb dropping that cash when my hostel rooftop worked just fine. Guess we both learned that shiny memberships dont make us magically productive lol.

Come on, you guys are missing the whole point of these memberships. It's not about the wifi or the noise, it's about the networking and the vibe. I went to a similar spot in Bangkok and even though I only showed up a few times, I met two clients there who ended up paying for my entire year's rent. How else are you gonna run into people face to face if you're always hiding in your Airbnb?

Oh PLEASE. $300 for potentially meeting clients who pay your rent and you're complaining about noise? That's a STEAL compared to what you'd spend on coffee shop wifi and hoping someone important sits next to you. I did the same thing in Ho Chi Minh and yeah, the place was packed and loud half the time. But I ended up chatting with this guy at the water cooler who needed a freelance writer, and he's been sending me work for two years now. You can't put a price on that kind of connection. Stop treating it like a library and start working the room.

Emma over here acting like every coworking space is a goldmine - I found one in Chiang Mai that looked like a hostel lobby and charged by the hour for filtered water. Some guy kept trying to pitch me his protein powder startup while I was just trying to fix my laptop at the communal table. But I did end up trading HVAC tips with a landlord who needed unit servicing, so maybe the chaos pays off for some of us, just gotta pick your battles right.
