I finally got my ex to sign the papers 14 months after we agreed
We split up back in March 2023 and both said we wanted a quick divorce. But then he kept stalling on filling out the financial disclosure forms. It took me 14 months of emails and a certified letter to get him to actually sign the final decree. The lawyer fees ate up like $800 extra just from the back and forth. Has anyone else had an ex drag their feet forever on something simple?

But is it really a bargain when it takes over a year of your life to get there? I had a similar situation with my ex, we agreed on everything in like ten minutes but she took eight months to actually mail the signed papers back. The extra lawyer fees weren't the worst part for me, it was the emotional drain of having to keep following up and not being able to fully move on. That year of limbo cost me more than just money, it kept me stuck in a weird holding pattern where I couldn't really start rebuilding.

Used to think people were being dramatic about the "emotional limbo" thing until I went through a similar delay. You're right, that holding pattern is brutal. It messes with your head way more than the extra money does.
