My buddy in Cleveland told me to get everything in writing before signing the papers, and he was dead right.
My ex tried to back out of our custody split three weeks later, but the signed agreement held up. Anyone else have a piece of advice that saved them a huge headache?

Sometimes a handshake and trust is all you need. Papers just make everything feel like a business deal. People get too caught up in legal stuff and forget how to talk. That agreement might have held up, but it probably burned the bridge for good.

Three weeks later? That's barely enough time for the ink to dry. How do you even try to back out of something that fresh when you just signed it? Getting it in writing is the only thing that stops people from changing their minds when emotions take over. Your buddy gave you the realest advice possible. It's sad you even need that tip, but it clearly saved you.
