Read something about staying for the kids and it rubbed me wrong

I saw a post from someone saying they stayed married 12 years for the kids and now their adult kids thank them for it. My parents said the same thing and honestly I wish they had split when I was 10 instead of dragging it out. The tension in that house was worse than any divorce could have been. Has anyone else dealt with parents who think they did you a favor by staying together?

Therapy was the only thing that helped me move on from that.

My folks pulled that 'stayed for the kids' card too and now I'm in therapy learning how to have a normal conversation.

See it the opposite way - my parents splitting was way worse for me than them staying.
