Found a hidden leak behind my bathroom wall after ignoring a musty smell for 6 months
Turns out that faint smell in my guest bathroom was a slow drip from a loose pipe joint, and after finally cutting open the drywall in my own house in Columbus, the mold remediation cost me $1,200, so has anyone else dealt with a sneaky leak that took forever to track down?

Caught a similar one last year, the smell was faint but always there after a shower. Picked up one of those $30 moisture meters too and went around testing baseboards and corners. Found a damp spot that was totally hidden behind the vanity, the pipe was just barely weeping for months. Saved me from cutting into a bunch of drywall like I did on my first leak. Mold remediation is brutal, $1,200 sounds about right for that kind of hidden damage.

That "faint smell" you mentioned is exactly how my last leak started, drove me crazy for months. I ended up buying a cheap moisture meter on Amazon for like $30 and checking every wall that felt slightly damp before cutting anything. Saved me a ton on drywall repair since I found it right behind the toilet flange instead of guessing.
