Man, $200 for 3 years is a total rip off. Those "lifetime" warranties are pretty much worthless these days, huh?

@hannahcraig you know, I used to be one of those people who'd say "well you get what you pay for" but honestly after getting burned the same way I totally get it now. These companies know exactly what they're doing with that "lifetime" nonsense.

A lifetime warranty in the tech space usually means the expected lifespan of the product, not your lifespan. Three years is actually pretty good for something like a pair of Bluetooth earbuds or a budget mouse because the battery is going to die naturally anyway. Companies put a price on that guarantee based on how long the parts actually last in the real world. If you got a full refund every time a cheap component failed after five years, the product would cost $500 up front and nobody would buy it. The math just doesn't work out for a small business to offer a truly infinite warranty on electronics. You paid for a reasonable guarantee that covers manufacturing defects during the normal usable life of the item, not a magic forever pass.
