That $8 tube of silicone caulk from the dollar store is why your bathroom trim keeps peeling up after 3 months.
I used the cheap stuff on my basement shower in Omaha this spring and it failed in 6 weeks, but the $12 GE Silicone II I used on the upstairs bathroom last year is still holding perfectly - has anyone else learned this the hard way?

The GE Silicone II has a higher solids content and better adhesion promoters that actually bond to acrylic and ceramic, while dollar store brands cut corners with fillers that won't hold up to humidity. I tested both on a shower pan in Kansas City and the cheap stuff was cracking within a month while the premium stuff is going strong at 18 months. Ever pulled a strip of the dollar store caulk and noticed how it smells like vinegar and stretches like taffy instead of staying firm?

Used GE Silicone II for a bathroom reno in my house two years ago. Still looks brand new, no cracks or peeling even with daily showers and my kids splashing water everywhere. Tried a cheap tube from the hardware store on a different project and had mold growing in the corners within three months. That stuff was like spreading warm peanut butter compared to the GE which actually stays put.
