That closet shelf project took me 3 weekends instead of 1

I decided to build custom wood shelves for my hall closet in Philadelphia. Thought it would be a straight 2-day thing, but I spent 4 hours just leveling the brackets because the old plaster walls were totally wonky. Then the cuts were off by like a quarter inch and I had to sand everything down. Ended up buying new brackets from Home Depot after the first set stripped out. Has anyone else had plaster walls just ruin their timeline like that?

Plaster walls, am I right? They always mess up the simplest projects. I ran into the same issue in my old apartment, the brackets would never sit flush. Took forever just to get the level right before I could even start cutting wood. All those extra trips to the hardware store really add up too.

That plaster dust gets into everything too, such a mess to clean up.

Yeah, those trips for the right anchors are the real pain.
