That neighbor who keeps borrowing my tools without asking finally pushed me over the edge
So last Thursday I'm in my garage trying to patch a hole in drywall from a pipe leak, and I realize my putty knife is gone. I walk next door and there it is, sitting on his workbench covered in old paint. He says 'oh I just needed it for 5 minutes' and I'm standing there thinking bro, it's been 3 weeks since I saw it last. Has anyone else had to put a lock on their tool shed to keep a neighbor from treating your stuff like a free rental?

My neighbor "borrowed" my lawnmower for a month and brought it back with a dead engine, so I feel your pain.

Betty's situation with the lawnmower is exactly why I don't lend anything out anymore. That dead engine proves some people just don't respect other folks' stuff at all. Put a lock on that shed and keep your tools safe, it's the only way.

Oh man, tell me about it! I had a similar thing happen with my pressure washer. Lent it to my brother in law for a weekend and it came back with the hose all cracked and the pump making this awful grinding noise. He claimed it was like that when he got it, which is just not true because I had literally used it the day before. Now I keep everything under lock and key too. Some people just don't get that borrowing means returning it in the same condition, you know?
