My neighbor's garage plans had the roof slope wrong and I caught it too late

Last month I was helping a neighbor draft his detached garage addition and I didn't double check the roof pitch calculation he had. He built the frame based on my numbers and now the roofing material doesn't line up right. Has anyone else had a drafting error turn into a real world headache like that?

Hey @charlies37, that's a rough spot to be in for sure.

oh man that hurts. how did you not double check the pitch before he cut the rafters though? like was it a simple math mistake or did you just assume the plans were right and skip verifying the numbers? i've been burned by trusting my own quick calcs before too, but framing lumber aint cheap to waste.

@charlies37 actually a simple math mistake on my end forgetting to factor the overhang length threw it off.
