That Tuesday everything just clicked after 3 months of fighting my CAD settings
I spent the better part of last winter fighting with my layer standards on a commercial build in Austin. Every file I opened from the electrician looked like a rainbow mess. Then one Tuesday morning, I sat down and just rebuilt my template from scratch with only 8 layers, no exceptions. Within 2 hours I had the whole floor plan cleaned up and the contractor actually said 'this is the first time the drawings made sense.' Has anyone else had a similar reset day where starting over felt like the only real fix?

Whoa, that Tuesday story gave me chills! You hit on something huge that nobody talks about, which is that our CAD messes are usually just a mirror of our own messy thinking. I had a similar reset when I stopped trying to match everyone else’s layer names and just made my own simple set, even if it meant the subs had to complain for a week. The real fix wasn’t the software, it was finally giving myself permission to say “my way or the highway” to the chaos. Once you do that, the drawings stop being a fight and start being a tool, and that’s when the magic happens. What made you pick Tuesday, was it just the day you finally snapped?

Snapping is a process, not a moment, and Tuesday just happened to be the day my old template finally felt like a straightjacket. Rewrote my whole standard set that afternoon and never looked back, the subs learned or they suffered.
