Heard a guy at the shop say sand is just tiny rocks, and it hit me how dumb that sounds but its true
I was grabbing a new coupling at the supply house last Friday and this old timer said it while looking at a pile of dredge spoil. Made me realize how much of our job is just moving tiny pieces of bigger stuff around. Anybody else get those random simple thoughts that stick with you on the job?

Starts making you think about EVERYTHING differently right? Like concrete is just little rocks glued together with cement dust. Makes you wonder where the line is between a rock and sand anyway. Saw a guy once measured sand grains against gravel and realized its ALL just a size game. Even the big boulders we haul are gonna be dust someday. Kinda wild how we spend our whole careers shuffling nature's leftovers around and calling it work.

Roll my eyes a little at this one, @fiona_carr26. It's really not that deep. Sand is sand, rocks are rocks, and concrete is concrete. Nobody's out here having an existential crisis because a boulder might turn into dust in ten thousand years. We're just trying to get the hose hooked up and the job done.
