Visited the Port of Savannah and noticed something about their dredging schedule
Watched them run a cutter suction dredge on the Savannah River last month and they were cycling through maintenance windows way tighter than we do on the Gulf, has anyone else seen that kind of precision timing work out better long-term?

Wait, tighter maintenance windows actually work? I always figured that'd just lead to more breakdowns down the road. How long have they been running that schedule for?

Back when my old shop switched to 3 day windows back in 2018 I was worried too. But honestly it forced us to actually fix things right the first time instead of just patching stuff up. We started catching small problems early before they turned into big ones. I've seen breakdowns go down about 30 percent since we made the change. It takes some getting used to but the data definitely shows it works.

We ran into the same thing on some river jobs down here. It felt sketchy at first but once we dialed in our prep work everything ran smoother. Cutting the window actually forced us to plan better instead of just throwing parts at it.
