Heads up about using that 'fast-dry' joint compound in a cold garage

I tried to finish a basement ceiling in my own place last week with a bucket of ProForm Lite Blue, but it was about 50 degrees in the space and the stuff set up way too fast, leaving me with a bunch of un-sanded ridges and a wasted evening, so has anyone found a good cold-weather mud that actually works?

Been there, done that, got the dusty t-shirt. I switched to using regular all-purpose mud (the green lid stuff) when it's cold, and I just mix it with warm water from the sink. It gives you a much longer working time. The key is keeping the mud itself warm, not just the air, so I'll even bring the bucket inside between coats. It's not as fast, but you won't get those crazy hard ridges.

My old boss swore by putting the mud bucket on a heating pad.

Yeah, @joel_chen31 is right, warm mud is the real fix.
