I finally figured out why my Facebook Marketplace posts kept getting ignored for months
I used to post furniture for sale with just a blurry phone pic and a one line description like 'couch for sale $50'. Then last week I watched a youtube video from some guy in Texas who said to clean the item up, take 4 good photos with natural light, and write a whole paragraph about the condition. Has anyone else noticed a huge difference just by putting a little more effort into a listing?

Oh man, I gotta disagree with you there. All that extra effort is just a waste of time when you're selling cheap stuff nobody really needs anyway. I've sold plenty of things with one blurry photo and a two word description and they were gone the same day.

Blurry photo and two words, that's the Ebay speedrun method right there. What's the worst item you've sold in under an hour?

Yeah but you're proving my point exactly! Blurry photo and two words for stuff nobody really needs means you're just dumping junk on people who don't care. That works fine for cheap items under 10 bucks. But if you're trying to sell something that actually has value or could bring in real money you're leaving so much on the table by not putting in any effort. I've seen people sell the exact same vintage lamp for 30 bucks with a bad photo and then someone else with good lighting and measurements gets 150 for it. The buyers who pay top dollar are looking for detail and trust. Why would you settle for pocket change when a few extra minutes could triple your profit?
