Serious question, my dad's mood improved a ton after we got him a dog walker 3 times a week.

He was really isolated in his apartment in Tampa. Now he's chatting with the walker and even goes to the park sometimes. Anyone have tips for other low-cost social activities for seniors?

Always thought that was a luxury service, but hearing this makes total sense. That little bit of regular, friendly contact is huge. Maybe check if the local library has a senior book club or game day, those are usually free.

Honestly used to think dog walkers were just for busy yuppies. Hearing how it helped your dad really flips that idea on its head. That regular check-in from a friendly person is probably the real magic. For other ideas, maybe see if his building has a common room for cards or if there's a community center with a cheap coffee hour.

That dog walker idea is so smart, it worked for my mom too.
