I used to think those magnetic wire finders were a total gimmick

Got one as a gift from my wife last Christmas and figured it was junk, but it actually saved my butt on a Reno job. I was working in a 1950s kitchen and needed to drill for a new light, and the thing beeped right over a live line the old plans didn't show. It was a specific Klein model, and now I keep it in my bag. Anyone else have a tool they doubted that actually proved itself?

Nah, it's actually pretty key for that specific job... saved me a ton of time last week. Not just luck.
