Overheard a supply house guy say MC cable is easier to strip than NM and I had to try it
I always hated dealing with MC but he showed me this trick with a roto-splitter and now I'm actually faster on my rough-ins in Fresno. Has anyone else switched up their go-to cable just based on a random tip like that?

@daniel_cooper34 I gotta push back a little here. MC with a roto-splitter is definitely smoother than NM for long runs, but on my rough-ins I still prefer NM cause it's way easier to splice in tight boxes without the armor getting in the way.

Hell yeah, that roto-splitter trick is a game changer. I had a similar moment with BX cable on a remodel job a few years back. Some old timer showed me how to pop the armor off with a pair of side cutters and a quick twist, and I felt like an idiot for all the times I wrestled with it before. Now I actually look for reasons to use BX for my short runs, just because I like the feel of it. Funny how one little tip can make you ditch what you thought was the standard.
