So I was fishing a line through a drop ceiling in an old bank building downtown and a family of raccoons came tumbling out onto my head.

My apprentice just stared for a solid minute while I was covered in dust and angry raccoons, then he asked if we needed to call animal control or just keep going with the conduit run.

Actually, you really should call animal control for raccoons. They can carry rabies and you don't want to risk getting bitten. It's safer for everyone to let the pros handle it.

Check the building code for pest exclusion rules. That old bank might need a wildlife barrier installed before you close it up, or you could fail inspection. It's a paperwork angle that beats arguing about rabies.

Just keep going, the raccoons will move on. We had a possum family in a crawl space and they cleared out once we made enough noise. Your apprentice has the right idea, focus on the job.
