The difference between a cheap knockoff and a real Schindler door operator is a whole weekend
We had a call for a sticking door on a 90s Schindler 330A. The building manager bought a generic operator online to save maybe 200 bucks. Spent all Saturday fighting it, the gear mesh was off and the cam follower was binding. Monday morning I put in the proper Schindler part and it was running smooth in under an hour. Has anyone else had a generic part eat up more time than it was ever worth?

My old man tried to save fifty bucks on a generic garage door opener motor once. We spent two afternoons listening to it scream before he caved and bought the name brand. It's always the cheap fix that costs you the most time.

Yeah, my cheap coffee maker sounded like a dying robot for a month before I gave up. You're totally right, @taylor_patel, that false savings just steals your weekend. I never learn, though.

My buddy got a generic part for his car window motor. It lasted maybe three weeks before it gave up. Sometimes the cheap thing is just fine.
