So what was the actual treatment? Because @finley_owens is right, it's not magic, it's just better stuff. My guess is she finally felt what real hydration is like, not just a greasy layer sitting on top. Vaseline locks things in but it doesn't add any water back, you know? That spa day probably gave her skin a drink for the first time. No wonder she looked shocked.

Magic is a strong word for it. Sometimes you just find a product that actually works better, and the change makes sense. She probably realized there's better stuff out there than vaseline.
