Just realized my whole process for checking those 'miracle' cleaning gadgets is different now

A year ago, I'd see a viral ad for something like a 'one-second carpet cleaner' and just watch the video, maybe read the comments. I fell for a $30 'laser' pet hair remover that was just a sticky roller with a blue light. The change happened around March, after that waste of money. Now, my first step is to find the actual product page, not the ad, and scroll straight to the one and two star reviews. I look for photos people post, not the brand's shots. I also check if the 'before and after' videos have cuts or weird camera angles. Last week, I spent 15 minutes on a 'magic' sponge mop and found three reviews saying the handle snaps after a month. Saved myself another $40. How do you guys pick apart the real use from the fake show in those ads?

Ever feel like everything's just a show now, @cameron_hernandez69?

Honestly, I still trust the hype videos.

Remember the 2017 Pixel camera hype. They showed perfect low light shots. My actual photos had blurry faces and weird colors. Hype videos use perfect lighting and staged scenes we never actually shoot in.
