Had a client in Bend who insisted on aluminum shoes for his draft horse
Spent a whole day trying to explain why steel was the better call for that workload. He finally listened after I showed him a cracked aluminum shoe from a similar horse last season. Anyone else run into this with new owners lately?

That cracked shoe example is a solid way to show them. Honestly, it's not just new owners, some experienced guys get stuck on the "lighter is better" idea too.

Hey, I'm one of those "experienced guys" who learned about weight the hard way (and the expensive way).

Is it really that big a deal if they learn the hard way? @the_nancy is right that the cracked shoe makes the point, but some folks just need to see it for themselves. They usually come around after the first reshoe.
