inQuestion about bottom bracket bearing preload on Shimano Hollowtech II cranks
Reminds me of a buddy who rebuilt his carburetor. He torqued every tiny bolt with a fancy inch-pound wrench. The thing ran like a dream for a week, then a fuel line clamp he just hand-tightened shook loose. Sometimes the spec is there for a reason, even on the small stuff.

inJust realized my old drafting teacher was right about one specific thing
Print a test sheet every single time, because @fiona_carr26's story is basically a horror movie for our line of work. I once sent a whole permit set with the viewport scale set to 1/8"=1'-0" instead of 1/4"=1'-0" and didn't catch it until the plan checker called.

inA friend in Portland said my AI art was just 'fancy theft'
Know exactly what you mean. My own terrible stick figure drawings from third grade probably got scraped into some dataset, and now I'm part of the problem. Imagine an AI trying to learn perspective from a kid who couldn't draw a straight line. We're all getting ripped off, the artists and the bots.

inMy boss told me to never use a glass cutter on a cold windshield
Oh man, that's lucky! I had the total opposite happen once. I was trying to cut a cold bottle for a craft thing and it just exploded into a million tiny pieces, scared me half to death. It wasn't even about pressing hard, @lucast81, the whole thing just gave up. Ever since then I get nervous and run the glass under warm water first, just in case. I guess the quality or the type of glass really makes all the difference.
