PSA: My clumsy moment at a public studio taught me a quick grip trick

Noah Sanchez · 2026-03-04T10:21:26.80326+00:00

I was doing a live piece at an open studio night and almost dropped a hot gather because my hands were sweaty. Now I keep a small box of rosin powder nearby to dust my fingers for a better hold. Anyone have other simple hacks for shaky hands during long sessions?

Skip the rosin, it just creates more problems.

Is it ever that big a deal, the_keith?

Yeah that's what I was just realizing with Aaron_Ross90's point, it's like that with so many quick fixes. You get a phone grip because you keep dropping it, but then it just gets greasy and slides off anyway. Or those fidget toys for shaky hands that end up making your fingers more tired. Sometimes the extra thing just becomes the next problem you have to solve.

Come on, is it really that serious? A bit of sweat isn't worth freaking out over.
