I finally saw what happens when you skip the hoof testers on a new client

Took on a horse from a farm near Lexington last month, owner said he was just a little off. Did a quick look, trimmed him, thought it was fine. Two weeks later he came back lame and we found a deep abscess that a hoof tester would have caught right away. How do you guys make sure you check everything when you're in a rush?

Honestly, the hoof tester is the one tool I will never skip even if the barn is on fire. Tbh that thing has saved me from looking like a fool more times than I can count.

Man, that's the worst feeling (been there, done that). Rushed a trim on a new rescue once and missed a hot nail, learned that lesson the hard way.

Ugh that SUCKS, it's such a sinking feeling. I still get nervous with new dogs because you just don't know their history yet. That instant guilt is the worst teacher but man does it stick with you. Really glad your rescue was okay in the end.
