Tbh, I was setting a post and the auger hit something solid, turned out to be an old slab from a shed the homeowner 'forgot' to mention. Anyone else have a good way to check for buried junk before you start digging?

Ever try calling the city for old property records? Might show where the last owner put stuff.

Not a bad idea, but last time I called the city I spent an hour on hold and they told me the records were lost in a flood. Maybe I'm just cursed. @henry_murray I'd probably leave that car battery right where it was and pretend I never found it.

Honestly it's just part of the job. You can't find everything, even with a detector. Sometimes you just hit rock and have to deal.
