Question about managing anxiety with last-minute flower orders
I run a small flower shop and often face last-minute requests. Last week, a bride wanted to swap all her roses for peonies just before her wedding. I had to scramble to find peonies, which are out of season here. The stress kept me up at night, and I felt anxious all day. I love my job, but these moments make it hard. What methods do you use to stay calm under pressure? Is there a way to set boundaries with clients? I'm looking for practical tips to handle this better.

Man, that peony story gave me flashbacks to the time a client wanted lilies swapped for orchids with 48 hours notice (I still have stress dreams about that delivery van). What helps me is having a firm policy sheet I email with every quote - it says last minute swaps may not be possible and lists a rush fee. For the anxiety part, I literally do breathing exercises behind the cooler when I feel panicked. In for four, hold for four, out for four. Sounds silly but it stops the spiral.

Yikes, that story hits close to home! I once had a client ask for tulips instead of carnations the day before an event. My version of a policy sheet was just me begging them not to change their mind. Breathing exercises behind the cooler sounds way better than my method, which is basically just muttering curses under my breath. Your rush fee idea is genius, though. I'm definitely stealing that for my next quote.
