Rant: That old mill story in my area was totally off

But wait, @richarddixon, who even made that map?

Warning: My cousin's wedding party asked me to 'just move a car' with my crane

Was their laugh really wrong, or are crane rules too strict?

A client never paid me for a month of work in 2015.

Learned this the hard way too. I always figured with friends or family, a verbal deal was enough. Then my cousin backed out of helping me move last minute, and I was stuck renting a truck alone. Now I make sure to text or email the details, even for tiny favors. It just saves so much headache and keeps things clear. Trust is great, but having it in writing is BETTER for everyone.

Question about managing anxiety with last-minute flower orders

I used to think policy sheets were just extra paperwork, but after my own peony nightmare (yep, been there too), I totally get why richard_young80 swears by them. @victor_thomas is right about backup suppliers, but I also started charging a hefty fee for changes inside a week, which surprisingly makes clients think twice. For the anxiety, I do the four-four-four breathing thing behind the cooler, and it actually stops my hands from shaking when I'm on the phone with a frantic bride.

Rant: My maple cabinet finish is perfect, but I'm lost on door hinge options.

Look into hinges with easy adjustment features, not just the style. Cabinets that get heavy use will sag or shift, and you need hinges you can tweak without taking the door off. European concealed hinges are good for this because most have screws for height and depth adjustment. Get ones with soft-close if you want to prevent slamming, but check the adjustment range first. I've seen hinges fail when they can't be fine-tuned after years of use.
