Rant: That old mill story in my area was totally off

Thought it burned down in the 40s. Saw a property map from 1955 that shows it still standing.

That 1955 map could be a simple drafting error.

What if the story changed on purpose... like maybe something bad happened there later and folks wanted to forget. A map is just paper, but a town's memory can edit things out. That building might have been standing but empty, a ghost nobody wanted to talk about.
