Showerthought: My barber asked if I had a 'rainy day fund' for slow months
He said, 'You cut hair, I cut checks, but we both need a buffer,' and it just clicked that my emergency fund was a joke. How much do you guys actually keep set aside for freelance dry spells?

My buddy who does wedding photography got totally wiped out last year when the season got weird. He had like two months of bills saved, but it stretched to four with no work. Now he aims for six months of basic costs, no fun money included.

Six months of basic costs sounds like a lot of stress to save up. Most people I know are doing good to have one month set aside. Maybe the wedding business is just that risky.
