My main client's payment system crashed right before rent was due

Happened last Tuesday, their whole invoicing portal just went down for two days. I had a $2,500 invoice stuck in limbo. I had to quickly message three past clients for smaller rush jobs to cover the gap. Has anyone else had to scramble like that when a client's tech fails?

Wow, that's a nightmare scenario! I used to believe just having one or two big reliable clients was the safe way to go. A situation exactly like this one totally changed my mind for good. Now I get super nervous if any single payment makes up more than half of what I need for my bills that month. It forces you into a corner when their system, or even just their approval process, hiccups. Spreading things out really is the only way to sleep at night.

Two whole days? That's brutal. I'd be having a full-on panic attack watching my rent due date get closer with zero payment. Good thinking hitting up those past clients.

Panic attacks breeding more panic attacks is the worst feedback loop. It just snowballs until you're buried.
