Looking back, that $400 gimbal I bought in 2018 felt like a huge risk but it basically paid my rent for a whole season.
I was shooting a lot of run-and-gun event work in Chicago and the smooth shots it gave me, compared to my old shaky handheld stuff, is what made clients start calling me back specifically for more polished jobs.

Remember how everyone was obsessed with gear specs back then. You invested in the feel of the shot, not just the megapixels. That smooth movement made your work look expensive and reliable, which is what clients actually pay for.

Ever try to explain that to someone who just bought their first camera? They get so mad when you say the lens matters more than the body.

Saw a great post comparing it to buying a car. You wouldn't put cheap tires on a fast sports car and expect it to handle well. The body is just the engine, but the lens is what actually touches the road and makes the picture. New shooters get stuck on specs because that's what the ads sell them. They don't realize a basic camera with a pro lens will beat a pro camera with a kit lens every single time.

Exactly. Clients can't tell megapixels, but they sure notice smooth shots.
