Pro tip: a client in Denver said to never send raw footage, but I did once and it landed me a 2-year contract.

They needed it fast for a legal case, and being the only one who could deliver in 24 hours made me their go-to. Anyone else had a 'bad' rule work out in their favor?

Wait, hold on, that's not really breaking the rule though, is it? The rule is "never send raw footage," but you sent it because they had a legal emergency and needed it fast. That's a clear exception, not breaking the rule for no reason. The rule is probably about protecting your work or not looking unprofessional under normal conditions. You followed the spirit of it by helping in a crisis, and it paid off. That's just good client service, not a bad rule working out.

Exactly! Rules are for normal days, not emergencies. You saved their butt and it worked out.

My cousin's a paramedic. They have a strict rule about not moving a patient before checking them. Last year, they found a guy in a car that was starting to smoke. They pulled him out first, then did the check. The rule is there for a reason, but sometimes the reason is to keep people safe, and you have to see the bigger picture.
