Spent 3 hours trying to get a drone out of a tree in Boise

Client wanted a low shot through some branches. Drone clipped a limb and got stuck 30 feet up. Took me, a ladder, and a borrowed pool skimmer to finally get it down. Anyone have a better method for this kind of recovery?

Was it really worth three hours of your time? Drones are tough and that one probably would have survived the fall if you just shook the branch. Next time maybe try a rope or a football before you go borrowing pool gear.

Shake the branch and you risk it getting tangled worse or hitting more limbs on the way down. Tying a weight to some fishing line worked for me last year, lets you be more precise. A football is a fun idea but good luck with the aim from that far under the tree.

I mean it's just a drone stuck in a tree, right? Maybe it's just me but three hours and a pool skimmer seems like a lot. Those things are built to take a hit, you could have just given the branch a good shake and been done in five minutes. Not every little problem needs a whole project to fix.
