Update: My chat with a client today showed me how to avoid mix-ups.
Asking questions early stops confusion later!

Guess what kinds of questions made the biggest difference in that chat. Were they about the project goals, the timeline, or something else entirely? It's so easy to assume you're on the same page and then find out later you were totally wrong. Pinpointing the exact moment a mix-up gets prevented is really helpful for doing it again next time.

Totally feel that. The little "wait, what do you mean by that?" questions save so much pain later.

My coworker Ben had a client meeting about a software update last week. They were all agreeing on a launch date and nodding along. His partner suddenly asked if "launch" meant a full public release or just a beta test. The room got quiet because nobody had actually defined that yet. That one question sorted out two months of work and stopped a big fight with the client. Now Ben makes everyone explain what they mean by simple words at the start of meetings.
