My brother insisted I needed a $300+ phone for good photos
He said my old budget phone's camera was trash and I'd regret not upgrading. I borrowed his fancy phone for a week and honestly, my Pixel 6a takes pics that are just as good for posting online. Has anyone else found that the camera specs hype is kinda overblown for normal use?

Mostly marketing to make us feel outdated.

Totally get that feeling. Honestly, the best move is to just ignore the hype and check if your current stuff actually works for what you need. If it does the job, you're not outdated, you're just smart with your money. Most of the time it's just a new color or a slightly faster chip you'd never notice. Save the cash for when something actually breaks.

Exactly what betty said, it's all just noise. Singh.harper is right too, it's mostly marketing. They want you to feel like you're falling behind so you spend. But like, does your phone still take pictures and get online? Then you're fine. The whole thing is made to feel way more serious than it actually is.
